Artist Statement

This sculpture was inspired by the Morgan Library in New York and the dedicated collectors. The cabinet itself was based from a traditional bookshelf look. I wanted the bookshelf to seem realistic to draw attention to the the beginning basis of what the Morgan Library became. The sculpture within my cabinet is based off of a ball and chain. The library contains several artifacts, some including an actual ball and chain. This interpretation was intended to show the fragility of these artifacts collected. The white wool wrapped around the ball is meant to represent the measures collectors might have to take in order to preserve art.
